Simple Steps to Protecting Your Peace
Sometimes enough is enough. Through my 23 years on this Earth, I’m slowly learning that you need space from your friends and even your family. I was scrolling on Instagram and I found the wonderful quote.
“Stop worrying about other people understanding you. Get in touch with yourself instead. Focus on what makes you happy, what makes your soul feel at peace. You are your biggest commitment so start loving your flaws, your awkwardness, your weirdness, your intensity, your vulnerability, you're everything. Life becomes so much more fulfilling when you are just simply yourself. the world keeps spinning whether people understand you or not so why not make this next trip around the sun about you.”
If this doesn't speak to your soul. I don't know how to further explain. Every morning I wake up I say a prayer before I began my day. My parents always taught me to put on my full armor from God for the day. They were teaching me the proper way to fight spiritual battles on a day to day basis. I didn't fully realize until I got older that people will drain you of your energy. According to a Drake rap lyric from his album "If Your Reading This It's Too Late", it just so happens that the song title was named Energy. Learning to be around people in small doses is a life changer.
In your circle of friends, you can easily run into the following friend: gossipy friend, the overbearing colleague, the worried friend, and the critic friend. There is a saying you can't choose your family but you can choose your friends. I stand behind this saying 100 percent. It's only right. My task for you this year is to take inventory of the people around you.
